Term	Definition
Datalink Layer	2nd layer of the OSI model. Switching and Switches are found here. The Datalink Layer is composed of two sublayers (LLC and MAC). Data found at the Datalink Layer is called a "frame".
DDP	Dynamic datagram protocol

DHCP	Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol allows for devices to be automatically get an IP address from a DHCP server which would provide for the basic information required in order to navigate the network or Internet. DHCP uses UDP port 67 and 68 and is an upgrade to the BOOTP protocol.
DNS	Domain Name System. DNS allows for the translation of human recognizable names to IP addresses. For example www.google.com would be translated to the appropriate IP address. DNS uses TCP port 53.
