Term	Definition
WAN	Wide Area Network - A WAN is two or more networks across a wide area. A wide area is relative to the person in that some people view a WAN as across the street, some view a WAN as one side of a city to another, and others view a WAN as between multiple cities.
wildcard mask	the inverse of a subnet mask. Found by subtracting each octet of the subnet mask by 255. ex. 255.255.255.0 would be a wildcard mask of 0.0.0.255
Windowing	Windowing is how many packets a sending computer will send before waiting for an ACK. This process speeds up the network a lot because it reduces the amount of ACKs that are expected and also transmitted over the network.
WWW	World Wide Web and also known as HTTP. Using port 80.
